« When The Purest Magic Breaks » is a sublime slow-burning aural odyssey where the music and poetry is intertwined, meticulously crafted for each other. Centered throughout is NYSZA’s voice, reciting her poetry in a gentle spoken-word style. She echoes longing, reassurance, sorrow and undercurrents of grief to hold the listener through a reassuring sense-making of the metamorphic aftermath of heartbreak.

Broken down into dust that settles beneath your eyes
Only to be washed away by sorrow

What’s left behind is a story
Whispered in closed circles in hushed tones
Mostly to yourself and
Mostly untold

I wish I could say it happens all of a sudden
In an instant catching you by surprise
I wish I could say there are usually no warnings
no alarms and definitely no signs

But truth be told it breaks down slowly
Splintered over a few seasons and many seconds
Disintegrating like a house
built on compromised integrity
white lies and a whole lot of effort to make it work
Until the day it doesn’t

Or you might be the one leaving
